My First Post! Me, my Purpose and my Rite Aid visit

I've been blogging about books for about 10 months now and love every second of it. Lately I've been finding great deals and giveaways on products and thought it would be great to share the wealth.

So this blog is for my shopping notes, letting you know about the deals and giveaway's I've found this week, so that you too can save money and be better informed about what's out there (the products and prices of these products.) I can only tell you what I see from my little spot in the world from New Jersey but there is nothing wrong with being an informed consumer

I figured I would start my first post with the deals I got at Rite Aid today. Rite Aid has become my favorite store to shop. They have their wellness+ program and the video values and single check rebates, and if you use all of these together, you can get a lot of stuff for next to nothing each week (like I've been doing). To learn more about Rite Aid's programs, I would recommend going to Mindi's blog at MomsNeedToKnow, I could reinvent the wheel and tell you all these things myself but Mindi's blog is what got me started on my savings adventures and why re-iterate what she says, when she's done it so well!

I also shop regularly at ACME and CVS, and occassionally at Walgreens or Shoprite and various others. Most blogs I've seen concentrate on getting the most bang for your buck, and I'm all about that but I'm also about spending the least amount of money out of my pocket each week. Depending on the deal, sometimes I'll put the money out for the Mail in rebate, but most of the time I try to find the deal that allows me to spend less than 5 or 10 dollars a visit so that I have more cash on hand. For example, I recently saw a post where if you do 3 transactions at rite aid you'll spend a total of $25 out of pocket and get all of that back in Cash Back and Rebate combinations plus an additional 8 bucks. Which is incredible, to make money and get so much for free. But some of those items I won't use and I don't know anyone who would so I opt for value and practicality over getting it for free when IT is something I won't use.

Here is my trip today to Rite Aid:

Here is what I got:
  • 2 Herbal Essences Conditioner (regular 4.49 each) sale 2/$5
  • 2 Aussie Instant Freeze Aerosol (regular 4.99 each) sale 2/$5
  • - used 2 b1 HE g1 Aussie coupon from 8/1 ($5 off) (expires 8/31)
  • 2 Gillette Deodorant (regular 4.99 each) sale 2/$9
  • - used 2 $2/1 Gillette Deodorant ($4 off) from 8/1 (expires 8/31)
  • - Will get a #3 Single Check Rebate for this purchase
  • 1 Crest Toothpaste (regular 3.79) sale $2.49
  • - used $1 off crest toothpaste from 8/1 (expires 8/31)
  • 1 Rite Aid Bleach (regular 2.29) sale $1.99
  • 1 Oral B toothbrush with free sample toothpaste (regular4.99) sale $2.49
  • - used $1 off Oral B toothbrush from 8/1 (expires 8/31)
  • 3M Magic Tape refill (regular 3.49) 75% off clearance $0.86
I then had these additional coupons:
- $5/25 coupon from Rite Aid Video Values
- $1 off $10 Haircare purchase from Wellness Plus email

My total came to $10.92 I then used a $9.00 Single Check Rebate (which you can cash or use at Rite Aid towards a purchase) and a $1 +Up Reward from my last visit. Leaving me with a $0.92 bill. That is what I like to see! I still have $5 +UP Rewards good until 8/14 from my previous visit and I received the following additional +UP rewards that are good through 8/21:
  • $1.50 from P&G (Crest/Oral B)
  • $1 from Aussie
  • $2 from Herbal Essences
  • $1 from P&G (Gillette)
Also, there is an Oral Care Rebate right now where if you spend $15 you get $5 gift card and if you spend $25 you get a $10 Gift Card. The Crest and Oral B will go towards that when I add my receipt to the Single Check Rebates adding $4.98 to my previous total of $6.99, giving me a new total of 11.97, guaranteeing me at least the $5 gift card but this runs until September 25th, so there is plenty of time to double that for the $10 gift card.

I just submitted my single check rebate for July at a total of $9.98, so I'm looking forward to getting that back as well as $35 in Rite Aid Gift Cards I submitted for from last month for the Skin Care rebate. At the rate I spend cash at Rite Aid, those gift cards will last forever.

Before I sign off... I also got some great deals at CVS today but the one you should know about is that SOBE is B1G1 free this week (at 1.79 each) and if you go and play the SOBE game here (or have a winning cap) you can print the B1G1 free coupon twice each time you win. This would make them 2 free at CVS this week! I had 4 coupons and got 8 SOBE's absolutely free.. now that's a deal.

Expect some changes on the site in the coming weeks as I am just getting up and running.

Thanks for Reading!
